things you might wanna know about....

first off, Andrea Zuill has a new freebie pattern up on her blog, BadBird's!
June's pattern is this awesome little owl -
free owl pattern
i've written about my love of her designs before, and this one is no exception!

next, Monday June 8th is the launch of the new sewing site Sewn!
Sewn Launch
from the temporary site -
SEWN is new and innovative online quilting and sewing community for all lovers of fabric crafts. We have Tips and Innovative Tools to help with your projects, an Advice Centre for all your sewing questions, online forums and chats, and information on your local shops, sewing groups, quilt groups and classes.

SEWN will feature designers and shops from Australia and New Zealand, as well as the latest from the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.

There will be articles, interviews and tutorials from industry experts, competitions and free patterns! We’ll even be reporting via podcast from craft shows around Australia and the USA.

there's a ton more info on Sarah Fielke's blog (the Sewn Creative Director), AND there's giveaways! over 135 bloggers have signed up to join the Sewn Launch Party by doing giveaways AND Sewn itself is offering giveaways too! seriously, get yer butt over there!

Turning Turning is giving away this amazing mini quilt for her 100th post - so beautiful!

Venezie Bags is doing a special sweepstakes all centred around a craft space makeover!

the 6 o'clock stitch has a new thing on the blog, the weekly bulletin board.
every week she'll post a new Bulletin Board where she'll be updating daily with links and where readers can comment with their own tutorials, giveaways, sales etc. what a great idea!

i heart linen has a great giveaway which includes, among other fabulous things, the latest issue of stitch. i picked it up the other day and oooooh, so gorgeous!

Diane at Crafty Pod is doing a giveaway of Lee from do stuff! blog's 10 yard cuffs e-book.

Mary at Crafters Guru is doing a Design-A-Tee giveaway - and for every 10 people who enter, she's adding another set to be won!
(i don't know what the size of the tee will be, fyi!)

Sublime Stitching posted another freebie design today, get the pretty flower girl HERE! (if you've missed the other two freebies they've done, you can get them here)

ReadyMade magazine has teamed up with etsy and is offering $10 (US only) subscriptions if you subscribe through the link at the bottom of this Storque Post. If you're a craftster, you might remember that this same deal was offered in january or february for craftster members. i subscribed then, but there was some sort of an error, and when i e-mailed Readymade, i got their typical poor customer service (seriously EVERY TIME i've ever talked to Readymade, they were idiots or rude!) and they basically told me to wait a while. of course, by the time i remembered, the deal was over! so i did it again, and this time it went through! it's about time i used my US PO Box for something other than my dad's ebay purchases.

and meaghan at Queering Domesticity (which is one of my most favourite blogs EVER) wrote an awesome post the other day about appropriation and racism in the craft community. EVERYONE needs to read this post! this is something that frustrates me so much, and saddens me so much, and almost makes me hesitant to be associated with the craft community (much like how 2nd wave feminism's transphobia and anti-sex attitudes make others hesitant to ID as feminists) i'm working on a piece about my biggest, most blatant pet peeve in the crafting world, language, and Meaghan touches on that as well. She has the ability to speak so eloquently and simply about such important (yet sensitive) topics, i have a lot of admiration for her. please, please, go check it out. while you're at it, check out her posts on diversity on etsy and in crafting part 1 and part 2, the integrity of crafts and crafting queer. and while you're at it, check out her etsy shop, oh ginger - she makes such gorgeous jewelery!

i feel like there's more i should be posting....

Sweetie -
Thanks for the ReadyMade tip; I let my subscription lapse due to budget cuts, and this was a good enough deal for me to get back on that wagon! yay!
Also, Queering Domesticity - awesome!

Thanks for the kind words about my quilt, but more importantly for pointing me to that QueeringDomesticity entry. That's exactly the type of blog thing that I love to read.
